Lab: Makerspaces – Zine
During our visit to the Art Hive today, we were asked to make a Zine on whatever made us feel happy, whatever we were passionate about. A Zine is essentially a small magazine; magazines are not always very inclusive since they are typically directed towards one specific audience and the content is not relevant to all nor is it written by a wide range of people.

I am a Teacher!
In class, we were asked to create a 4-page graphic story about our story and journey of becoming a teacher. This assignment really made me consider why I decided to become a teacher, why I hope to help my students build inspiring aspirations, why I’m extremely excited to teach yet a little bit scared at the same time…

In class, we were asked to create a concept map (a tree-like model rather than the radial model of a mind map) of technology in the classroom. Mine is posted below, however this is by no means a final version of my thoughts on technology in the classroom as my view is constantly evolving. Note that this is a very basic concept map and my complete thoughts about this are written on the About Me page.

After a very brief introduction to Prezi, the class participated in a game called “Typhoon” in which the class was split up into two teams. Each team took turns asking questions (which were presented on Prezi with their answers) and choosing a square from the board which awarded them a certain number of points. In addition to the positive and negative points, some of the 16 squares had a “T” for Typhoon (lose all your points) and ßà (switch points with the other team).

Last week, we discussed the content aspect of the TPACK model by creating a mind map of the content we cover in high school math classes. As a follow up to that activity and to conclude our lesson on open source vs. proprietary software, we were asked to form groups to once again discuss TPACK, but as a whole this time around.

After discussing the content aspect of the TPACK model, we were asked to discuss how we might apply SAMR to our subjects. We found this to be significantly more difficult than the previous activity and did not get through the entire model.
