Pecha Kucha Presentation

For this assignment, you are required to research open source educational tools, which you can use in your future classroom. You must find 5 different tools. Then, you will present your findings to the class in a Pecha Kucha Style Presentation. The parameters for this presentation style are 20 images/slides at 20 seconds each. In this presentation, groups must make connections between the selected tools and the pedagogical function they imagine it could serve. To get a sense of this style do a bit of research online.

You can present your content through PowerPoint/Prezi or in any other innovative way. The presentation should not exceed 15 minutes in time and must not include more than 5 students in a group. Groups will be formed in the class. Groups will be assessed by their peers (and the Instructor) on the following: time management, effective communication of information, a selection of meaningful open source tools (not gimmicky) as well as a visually appealing presentation. The rubric for this assignment will be available in myCourses. As a clue, you can reflect on these guiding questions for this presentation:

  • What educational technologies are available as part of open source software? Have you used in any of them in your classroom for educational purposes as teachers?
  • How will you pedagogically use these tools in your classroom to effectively enhance students’ learning?
  • Demonstrate some concrete examples of the way you will integrate these tools in terms of classroom activity.
